Time Management

All you are really doing is planning out the actions you need to take so that you can be successful. Take the time now to list on a piece of paper all the things you would like to be able to do over the next five years. Do not analyze or evaluate these things - just write them down. After you have written them down, go back over them and rank them as high priority, moderate high priority, moderate low priority, low priority. After you have ranked your priorities, you should have an idea of the most important things in your life and in your career.

You must develop the habit of taking care of every little task that comes up in your life as soon as possible. Getting things done now actually gives you much more time in the long run. We all have the same 24 hours every day. Time is your most precious resource. You must think about how you're spending your time throughout the day so that you can increase your effectiveness and be successful. Squeeze the most out of every minute of your day and be amazed at how much you accomplish.

Take the actions everyday in harmony with your purpose and goals. Suppose you are a student and your goal is to secure top position in the exam. Then watching out T.V serials, movies or a cricket match more than 2hrs. a day daily is not  a harmonious action towards your goal. You should have self-discipline and avoid things which hinder your progress. Your goal should be at the centre of all your activities. You must use your time wisely. All we are really doing is forgoing an enjoyment today for the greater enjoyment we will receive in the future when we achieve our goal.  To stop yourself from wasting the time keep the stop watch while you are working and write down how much time you spend in five-minute intervals. Repeat this daily. Stay aware of how you use your time.

Success depends very much on using your time wisely. Every day we waste numerous five minute blocks of time and they add up quickly - how much time do you waste? There are certain skills you must possess if you want to be successful. Project management and the ability to organize are at the top of the list.  Write down how you plan to spend your time, you will instantly become far more productive.

You must use your time wisely. Your life is made up of minutes and seconds. When you add them up, you get your whole life. You must use them all.  Often we have to give up something we enjoy when we are pursuing something we hope to gain in the future. Talent develops itself in solitude, character in life's stream. So in your hectic schedule spare sometime to sit alone even as less as few minutes.

Do not become distracted by anything that will detract you from achieving your goal. A handy little question to ask yourself at various times through the day is: Am I doing what needs to be done now? If you are not, then you need to redirect your energies. Failure to do so will mean that you are not using your time productively towards achieving your goal.

There can not be a single timetable for all people. One has to plan his own schedule according to his work and his past experiences. For better time management you need to have                self–discipline. Self-discipline means controlling our feelings and desires so that they do not become our masters. This involves great use of will power. For example you want to wake up at 5 o’clock in the morning everyday. But even after the alarm rings you go on sleeping, though you are aware of it. This is the time where you have to show your self-discipline. Changing your habits slowly that come in your way to success will ultimately make you stronger. To achieve great things in life one has to strive hard and practise hard and this calls for self- discipline.

Prevention is better than cure. I know by this time you would be quite confident that you can solve any problem. But I suggest you to take precaution so that no problem comes in your way to success. For example, after a month you have exam and you know that you can complete a task a within 20 days. So you think to enjoy for the 10 days and then start your preparation on the 11th day. Now think that those 10 days are over and suddenly some guests come to stay at your home for few days or you fall ill!!!  You have to do great struggle. Here you may complete your syllabus. But it won’t be the best performance you would have given. So I insist to prevent such a situation. Start from the very next moment you get your work.
